Who We Are

Seattle's Black Pride (SBP) is a young non-profit organization dedicated to empowering, educating, and entertaining the Black same-gender loving community. Throughout the years, Seattle's Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community has held private events throughout the city. Collectively, these events have attracted well over 3,000 Black LGBT people and their families, friends and allies.

Now organized, Seattle Black Pride is stronger than ever and is set to establish itself as one of the largest Black LGBT cultural events in Seattle. Our events are planned, produced and coordinated by the SBP Planning Committee, comprised of Black LGBT members & leaders—and their allies—who want to create a safe and affirming space to celebrate the community.

In just six months, we have held three successful fundraising events, organized a Board of Directors, and established relationships with business owners to have ongoing events for the community to celebrate. In addition, our events to date have launched with the help of Portland and Tacoma dedicated community volunteers & leaders, who want to make Seattle Black Pride a big success!

Budget & Proceeds

The Seattle Black Pride annual operation budget comes from individual donations, fundraisers, advertising fees, ticket sales, and from institutional & corporate sponsors. Proceeds are used to produce events, to support our annual Black Pride celebration in July, and for general operations and development expenses.
