Seattle Black Pride (SBP) 2006 was a huge success because of community involvement. In less
than a year the organization has had many accomplishments that include not only numerous
successful community functions/events, and local/national publicity, but also: gaining federal
non-profit status; the launch of a new HIV prevention program focusing on the needs of our
community; and most recently acquiring an office space! Also please check out our recently
updated website (www.seattleblackpride.org) with
information on SBP, how to get involved, beautiful pictures from our events, and much more!
SBP 2007 will only be bigger and more fabulous if you get involved to help make a difference in
your community. Making such a huge event successful means we need to start working together NOW!
There is some way for everyone to be involved and to contribute towards making the success of
Seattle Black Pride continue for many years to come.
So please, if you want to know the latest about the exciting happenings with SBP and how to get
involved and make a difference, come to this meeting on Sunday October 8th, 4-6pm (please be on
time, lots to discuss).
This will also be an opportunity for us to appreciate our current volunteers and have them share
their experiences to encourage new volunteers to step up! Please spread the word!

Seattle Black Pride is looking for new board members! Board members are responsible as a
collective for developing organizational policies & procedures, overseeing the organizational
structure, coordinating year-round functions, fundraising & community relationship building
among other duties. Seattle Black Pride's Board of Director, with community input, decides how
to market Seattle Black Pride and how to choose the following year's Black Pride theme,
entertainment, and schedule.
We need professionals who can bring skills to the table to guide the growth of Seattle Black Pride.
We are looking for qualified members of our community who can contribute to our family. The Seattle
Black Pride Board of Directors is a "working" board. Board members are typically involved in all
aspects of the organization.
This will require a commitment of your time and efforts. Although the annual Black Pride event takes
place annually during the third weekend of July, the board works year-round in managing and preparing
for the event.
There are bi-monthly board meetings as well as ongoing community and planning meetings. It is important
that all board applicants understand the effort involved when making this commitment. Please note that
at this time, all Board positions are volunteer-based.
