Seattle Black Pride works on building a stronger community by focusing on four specific areas. See below for an explanation.

Organizational Structure of the Seattle Black Pride Organization

HIV & STDs Intervention & Prevention Programming

HIV/AIDS & STDs is a subject we as an organization are passionate about. Prevention, detection, support, and access to treatments are critical aspects of this program. In addition to our Holistic Life Services targeted to address isolation and help reduce the primary cause of risky sexual behavior, our HIV/AIDS & STD program is targeted to both the prevention and to the support of those living with the disease.

Community Capacity Building

Our Community Capacity Building program is a grassroot approach to community strengthening. Our goal is to directly involve community members and to train them to meet the needs of other community members, in order to create a self-sustaining system where people have the skills and ability to act at their own level.

This is achieved by providing space and opportunity for ongoing community dialogue through workshops, panel discussions, community round table discussion and forums.

Holistic Life Services & Trainings

This program provides a holistic approach to helping members in our community who lack self-sustaining, basic survival skills.

Those whose lives have been affected by drugs or alcohol will definitely benefit from this program. However, many people in the LGBT community live a life of isolation by lack of support, knowledge, or education. This leads to self issues, and is a contributing factor in risky sexual behavior. This program works on addressing those issues in the broader sense in order to "get people's lives back on track."

Resource, Advocacy & Referral Services

This program is a collaborative effort between Seattle Black Pride and Pierce and King County organizations serving the Black LGBT community.

  • Public Assistance

Advocacy Services include assisting individuals with advocating for:

  • Health Treatments

  • State Mental Health Services
  • Assistance with obtaining support and services offered by other community organizations
