Film Festival
Seattle Black Pride 2006 "Mocha Reign" wouldn't be complete without a selection of some of the best
shorts and feature films reflecting the many facets of the Black LGBTQ community. Please find below
a description of every film, as well as links to the trailers and website where available.
The Film Festival spans two days:
- Saturday afternoon from 3PM to 5PM
we will show "Jumpin' the Broom: The New Covenant," "The DL Chronicles," "Dani and Alice" and "Brooklyn Bridge to Jordan" at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
- Sunday afternoon from Noon to 2PM
we will show "Walk in the light," "Inclinations," "St. Martin de 4th Street," "On the Low," and "The Ski Trip"
at Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center

Movie: "The DL Chronicles" (USA 2006)
An intriguing, sexy short film with a simple premise: a journalist undertakes research for a book on men living on
the "down low," and his narration shares the story of the men that are interviewed.

Movie: "Jumpin' the Broom: The New Covenant" (USA 2006)
Intimate stories with gay and lesbian couples reveal the historical role of family, marriage and commitment in the
African-American community.
This film was written, produced and directed by artist Debra A. Wilson. Debra will come present her new film at the Friday Opening Night Reception. The film was co-produced by Jasmyne Cannick, who will be at the reception as well.
Movie: "Dani and Alice" (USA 2005)
The last five hours of this relationship reveal both its love and its tragedy, as a passionate lesbian affair turns
volatile with a shocking fit of violence.

Movie: "Brooklyn Bridge to Jordan" (USA 2006)
Filmmaker Tina Mabry's short drama about a woman who loses her life partner in a tragic accident, then must
rebuild her fractured relationship with her estranged teenage son. Starring Fylicia Renee King, Shenita Moore and
Winslow Taylor.

Movie: "Walk In The Light" (USA 2005)
Walk In The Light explores the lives of people who yearn for a relationship with God but are turned away
by the traditional Christian church. Revealing the impact of intolerance and demonstrating the power of
self-love, the film explores the lives of three individuals who attend Unity Fellowship Church, a
predominantly Black and gay church in South Central, Los Angeles. Intimate footage and lively gospel provide
the backdrop to a film about struggle with accepting others and one’s self.

Aspiring young writer Mia struggles to find the perfect plot for an erotic short story while a diversity of
unexpected characters encourage her to try out some exotic explorations of her own.
Inclinations is a new short coming-out comedy by independent filmmakers Jen Simmons and Shelley Barry.

The story of a 13-year-old African and Mexican American boy who clashes with his mother's new girlfriends in an
ultimate battle between good and evil.

Young Ty (Gossett) is coming to terms with his sexuality. After experimenting with
classmate Kevin (Wills), their feelings begin to grow and the boys get into a schoolyard fight. As the
sexual tension escalates, Ty realizes that what began as innocent curiosity has blossomed into something
more profound. Meanwhile, Tommy Ford plays a teacher who has sage advice for the conflicted youth.
