Many people participate to Seattle Black Pride activities every year.
It's hard work, and it's rewarding—ask any volunteer you meet. We did, and here are a couple
quotes from our current and past volunteers. If you volunteered for us and have a great story to tell,
share it with us
"Just wanted you all to know that I had a great time. And Black Pride week-end was beautiful. It was awesome
to see so much family coming together this week-end, out of love. I am looking forward to next year."
— Sylvia
"When, back in September 2005, I started going to the meetings that would subsequently become what is
today known as Seattle Black Pride, it was with much caution. I wanted to see how serious things were.
But we had—and still do have—amazing people; things were moving, and by February 2006,
the buzz was high—Seattle Black Pride was here to stay. It became
clear just how huge the need was for this organization. [...] I am extremely proud of my work for SBP; it's one of
those rare times in life where you have an opportunity to make an impact and you take it. And when
I look back, I had more of an impact than I could even have dreamed of; it's mind-blowing. Long live Seattle Black Pride."
— Sébastien
"Man, it was just mind-blowing to experience a sort of high that continues to push me forward to learn and
share more with my community. I can imagine what the others have to say about their experience."
